Fic Rec:
Another Destiel fic writer I’m currently in love with at the moment (right up there with cloudyjenn, pyrebi, cautionzombies, and twentysomething) is luchia on AO3 (she also has an LJ account here). Her work is absolutely amazing and there’s something about it that is beautiful, painful, but -at the same time- whimsical and hilarious.
Although I already made a rec here for her fic Something Primal, I have to recommend it again because -while it’s fantastically cracky- at the same time it makes so much sense…?
There’s also Equinox, the fic where Castiel time travels through Dean’s life at seemingly random times and, despite his better judgment, Dean can’t help falling deeper and deeper in love with him. (Bring tissues if you’re going to read it. You’ll need them.)
Another fic I really like is Right of Conquest. I honestly don’t know how to rec it without spoiling some important things that happen throughout, but it’s basically about Lucifer being a huge douche. It’s the time of the Apocalpse, poor Castiel is lost and unsure of what to do, the Four Horsemen are gathered, and Dean is the only one able to talk sense into those that matter to him most. Simply put, I seriously love this fic, you have no idea. There’s something about the imagery and Dean trying to fix what’s already been broken that hurts in the most perfect way.
But then, if you’re absolutely determined to sob your eyes out, you should read Promises To Keep. The summary is as follows:
Castiel obeys for as long as he can, as well as he can.
But I think my favorite is Family Business, because the Winchesters are a mafia family and Dean is the one meant to inherit it all (Sam went off and became a lawyer, although he does help his family out with legal business). After leaving forty parking tickets unpaid, Dean ends up having to do community service to make up for it. Because he’s kind of a prominent figure in his family, there are people after him, so he can’t be outside to pick up litter or do community service of that nature. Instead, he somehow ends up at a soup kitchen, and that’s where he meets Castiel. Who has some secrets of his own.
I’m not doing this story justice at all. But just read it! It’s definitely worth it! And be sure to send your love to Luchia.
