Fic Rec:

So… I’ve been spending every free moment of my day on AO3, reading Destiel fics. As a result, I happened to stumble across pyrebi, who has written some of the most hilarious and underrated fics I have ever read. No. Seriously. This author is amazing.

My favorite is Scheherazade of the Super Eight, which is set during the war of Heaven. When Castiel is nearly assassinated by one of his own, the stress of the fighting and the pain of betrayal makes him distrustful of everyone around him. He becomes vicious and cruel, so unlike the Castiel he used to be.

But then one of his comrades enlists Dean to make Castiel better, who honestly has no idea how he’s going to do that, but never gives up regardless. He doesn’t lose hope in his friendship with Castiel, even when everything is falling apart around them.

I’m not explaining this story the way it deserves to be, but it’s so beautiful and amazing. I think it’s fantastic and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Also, be sure to check out pyrebi’s other works! There’s Vena Amoris and Other Old-Fashioned Bullshit (which is heavy on the spoilers, so proceed with caution). It’s an accidental marriage fic, but Dean’s reaction is so perfect and Castiel tries and fails to dodge his questions while Sam teases them both.

Another is Something About Toads. It’s The Frog Prince meets Supernatural and is just too hilarious for words.
